"Fitzpatrick has been the best and most versatile defender on the nation's best defense for the last two seasons. He's an obsessive competitor, a leader on and off the field and a likely future coach."
Strengths:
Safety sized CB with fluidity, speed, and great recognition skills. Experienced in the slot, outside CB, single high safety, and in the box. Flies up run support. A missile on the blitz. Good ball skills.
Has the foot quickness and speed to mirror. Carries deep speed in man. Has the physicality to reroute and stifle guys in press. Prepares and film studies like a coach. Is a coach on the field and a respected team leader.
Weaknesses:
Flies around at top speed and doesn't always break down properly. Can overrun plays. Primarily played slot CB despite projecting to outside CB and safety.
Overall:
Fitzpatrick has been the best and most versatile defender on the nation's best defense for the last two seasons. He's been a better CB than alum Marlon Humphrey and a better safety than alum Ha Ha Clinton Dix at Alabama.
At the slot he's shown good short area quickness for a big corner. He's been a physical tackler and playmaker at various spots including special teams. He's a leader on and off the field and a likely future coach. I think he's arguably the top talent in this draft and reminds of HOF types Charles Woodson or Rod Woodson.
