College Week 3 Standouts

It wasn't too noteworthy a week for draft elligle prospects last week. Virginia Tech's Cam Phillips went off for 14 - 189 and 3 TDs but East Carolina played considerably off all game. Sam Darnold had a masterful late game drive to tie the score with Texas...but it was Texas...and he's wasn't especially lights out all game. Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald had a solid showing vs LSU but it was basically game managing a dynamic offense with an athletic QB. FBS leading rusher Rashaad Penny continues to impress but he was featured last week.

QB Steven Montez, Colorado

Montez is a RS Soph who needs a lot of maturation and polish, but his skill set is easy NFL material. He's got a big time arm with accuracy and mobility on a 6'5 225 frame. Mechanics and footwork are solid and he simply needs more experience at the position. He worked on instate rival Northern Colorado last week posting 425 total yds and 4 TDs.

QB Riley Ferguson, Memphis

Watching Ferguson shred UCLA last week definitely brings up memories of Paxton Lynch's performances against power teams. Ferguson has just as big an arm and similar mobility. Hasn't worked out too well for Lynch and i'm similarly leery of Ferguson but he still showed very good arm talent last Sat.

WR Anthony Miller, Memphis

Miller was a serious playmaker ve UCLA last week. He consistently made big catches and snatched yac from Bruin DBs. While that offense certainly inflates stats, Miller demonstrated his clutch hands and open field elusiveness.

RB Bryce Love, Stanford

Love and Penny had a beautiful duel last Saturday. Love single-handedly kept Stanford in it with 184yds and 2 TDs. He's an explosive, tough, homerun hitter out the backfield. The only thing he lacks is size and experience in the passing game.
